AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine) CERTIFIED
GYNECOLOGICAL ULTRASOUND
» State of the art ultrasound including 3 and 4
Dimensional ultrasound and Saline Infusion Sonography
(SIS) are often used to assess female organs to select
best treatment options. SIS is usually a painless procedure
in which fluid is placed in the uterus to help see the
inside lining.
ABNORMAL BLEEDING / HEAVY BLEEDING
» All options for possible causes and treatments
are explored. Our goal is to ensure safety and do the
least amount necessary to address your problems. Surgery
is not our first choice unless there is no choice. A
complete history and physical are step one to understanding
your problems. Our findings are discussed with you and
treatment options presented. You decide what choices
are most comfortable for you.

PELVIC PAIN
» We have extensive experience in pain treatments
and use the same approach as used for abnormal bleeding,
endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic infections and/or any
other possible causes for pelvic pain. It all starts
with the history and physical!
HORMONE THERAPY
» See “Point of View” regarding hormone
therapy in menopause. Birth control pills/patches/rings
should more often be called hormone regulation treatments
because of their value in helping women to balance out
their hormones before menopause. We also make sure that
the thyroid is working correctly.
TREATMENTS for ABNORMAL PAPS
» Since 1981, Dr. Young has been treating abnormal
paps. If a pap is worrisome, it is usually because
of a viral infection called human papilloma virus (HPV).
This is a virus that can affect the vulva, rectum,
clitoris, vagina AND cervix. Therefore, we strongly
believe that all of these areas should be examined
with a microscope if the pap supports the need for
this check. Once you have a COMPLETE check, then your
options for management are given to you and you decide
what choice works best for you. We use state of the
art equipment that helps you to see what we are seeing
so that you can better understand your particular problem.
Some of the procedures that we do in the office to help
with abnormal paps, include cryosurgery is done by freezing
the affected tissue with a machine which uses Nitrous
Oxide gas. The freezing causes the abnormal tissue to
slough off and to be replaced with new healthy tissue.
We can also do Loop Electrical Excision Procedures (L.E.E.P.).
This is where the abnormal tissue is destroyed by an
electrical current. Both of these procedures help to
preserve normal tissue.
